Romans

I’m here today (lol that sounded weird) to talk about Romans. In the Bible. Not Rory. 😉

I’m going to start doing Bible stuff. (Bear with me on this) So, last night my Momma showed me a few verses. Here they are:

Romans 8:35-39 ”Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. ”

Wow. Pretty powerful. And true. Everything in the Bible is true. You cannot just read one Testament and say the rest is crap. Because you would be wrong. Neither Testament is less needed or important than the other. You need both. End of story.

Now, I’m going to be honest. I don’t go to Church because most Churches don’t believe like my family do. They take one half of the Bible and ignore the rest. Or teach differently than my parents do. My parents taught the Bible to kids, OK. They were missionaries. They know their stuff. And yet, people still judge us for not going. I’m not dumping anything on people who do go, but I’m saying we get weird and sympathetic looks. It’s very annoying…

We also don’t wear skirts. This gets A LOT of weird looks, all disgusted. But we don’t.

But we still love Messiah. He’s our Messiah. He loves us, we love Him. That is ALL that matters, not how we look.

Anyway. I was very glad my Momma showed me these verses.

What comes to my mind is Fear. Everyone’s afraid of something. Whether small like being scared of spiders, or big like scared of losing a loved one. Lots of things to fear right? Well, these verses say differently. How, you may be asking, does God loving me have anything to do with not being afraid.

Well, because! God’s love for us is the strongest thing in the universe and beyond. Stronger than any magnetic force. Any electric current, anything. Not only did He die for us, but he does countless things for us everyday. Make a list right now, of all the great things Messiah has done for you. Big and small. I think you’ll notice that there’s a lot of small things huh?

  • Water and food. Be grateful for these, you know why.
  • A roof over your head.
  • A bed. Yeah, don’t take it for granted.
  • Shoes and clothes.

Those are basic needs, right? Let’s go on to the luxuries.

  • Wifi. Obviously. You’re reading this.
  • TV, video games, books etc.
  • Other snacks.
  • Music

And yet still more!

Let’s go over the stuff He gives you, that aren’t Things. You can’t touch these, can you?

  • Love. Family, friends, and most of all… God! They love you.
  • Faith. Not everyone has faith in Messiah. They are missing out aren’t they?
  • Joy.
  • And believe it or not, Pain. Yes. Pain. In the wise words of John Green, it demands to be felt. And if we didn’t feel it, once again from John, we wouldn’t know how it felt to be happy. It hurts, when bad stuff happens. Pain hurts a lot. But, remember when you think it’s way to hard, that it’s worth it in the end. Something wonderful, big or small, is going to happen. Who knows what. But when it does, you’ll be glad that you waited for the storm to pass.

Fear is, to me, pointless. Because what will happen will happen, whether we were scared or courageous. So, why hide in under your covers, shivering from the fear that a nighttime monster might take you, when you can remember God is always there? Your Guardian angel is there.

The verses mean that no matter what tries and separates you from the love of Messiah, will FAIL. Because nothing can. Love is stronger than hate, you’ve heard. But it’s true! Always true, so why is it different with God? It’s not. His love is even stronger than we humans can imagine or compete with. Which means that the Love of God is everlasting. We have nothing to fear, because this life is temporary! That doesn’t mean stop living. Live your greatest, be yourself. Because you are who God created you to be. He didn’t make you to be that famous person, or that favorite person of yours. He made you, YOU. So don’t be scared to LIVE. Because Messiah is there, and He loves you. And nothing can change that.

In the end, maybe you will be still scared of something. Some things, like losing a loved one, are definitely something to be scared about. But don’t let fear control you. Never let fear control you. Let love control you, let God. Now, I’m not saying be the perfect, worry less person. Don’t be scared. Which means:

Pray to God about your fear. Ask Him for help. Have faith and trust in Him. He’s in control.

The most important thing in the end, is be yourself with God. Pray. Have faith. Be strong.
